Louisiana Jambalaya
I had a neighbor who was from Louisiana. He used to make this all the time. I love any kind of rice dish, but I can't eat this if it is too hot. My husband likes it hot, so he seasons his on his plate and I can eat mine lightly seasoned. That is the good thing about this recipe--the pepper seasonings do not have to be cooked into it. You could also add jalapeños if you like and cook them into it--if you like hot stuff.

Chili oil

Chili Oil
Adds flavour and zing to otherwise boring meals. This oil is great for using in Asian dishes, and for spicing up pizzas and pastas! Editor's Note: Dried, not fresh chiles are recommended. Oil does not inhibit the growth of mold or bacteria, and home-made oils could produce botulism food poisoning if not handled correctly. Commercially produced oils must contain specific levels of microbial inhibitors (typically acidifying agents such as phosphoric or citric acid). Because these inhibitors are not generally available to the consumer, the US Food & Drug Administration suggests that such oils be made in small quantity and refrigerated.

Julie's Deviled Eggs
These will get gobbled down as fast as you can put them out on a plate. :) At first I thought it would be silly for me to enter my recipe in for them, because it's so simple. But like my Mom's tartar sauce recipe which you can find here, my family likes deviled eggs which are not at all sweet. People always rave about them when I make them this way, so I think it's worth sharing the recipe. Picnic storing and serving tip: fit two filled halves together, wrap in waxed paper or other kitchen wrap, and twist the ends!

Easy Lemon Cake with a Twist
This one is for lemon lovers who are also chocolate lovers. The extra lemon in this cake gives it a strong enough flavour to offset the chocolate icing without being overpowered. It reminds me of the lemon filled, chocolate coated donuts that you can get at Tim Horton's.

Foil-Baked Fish
I got this recipe from "Cooking for the Health of It". It is a cookbook prepared by Butter Buds and Sweet & Low. When I had by-pass surgery, I used this recipe to help lower my cholesterol. I do not usually care for baked fish, but I really liked this recipe. By using Butter Buds, you save 188 calories and 70 mg on cholesterol per serving, so if there are any people out there who need to watch their diet, this is a good recipe.

The best southern green beans
Posted on July 12th, 2010
The Best Southern Green Beans These are FANTASTIC! This recipe was revised from an old family favorite! My southern roots come through on this one! Either way the beans end up melting in your mouth and the cooked bacon adds more flavor! REALLY tasty! Good for cookouts or to compliment any meal! by greyghost
Eggs in a basket
Posted on July 12th, 2010
Eggs In a Basket I learned this recipe while I was taking a home economics class in high school (a long time ago). I have prepared these 'eggs in a basket' for my children for Easter fun when they were small. They are all grown up now and they still insist on the 'eggs in a basket' each and every Easter. My hubby really likes them too. by Gee Bee

Colonel Sander's Kentucky Fried Chicken
While I'm not claiming it tastes just like the KFC recipe, this is truly an AWESOME recipe for fried chicken!! My mom has been making this since I was a wee little one, and I still absolutely LOVE it! My whole family really enjoys this chicken. The ingredients are a little different, but don't let that scare you. Make it once, and you'll be hooked! Prep. time includes refrigeration time.
